Daily prayer
The prayer for today and the start of our journey is that God travels with us. So we can be inspired by the teaching Jesus gave to us during his time on earth, but also that we hear stories from the people living in the region from the perspective of Jesus, who loved all people regardless of nationality or borders or politics…
God, our companion on the road,
Enter with us the wilderness of our uncertainty,
Be with us on this journey of discovery,
And help us as we seek, however falteringly
To follow in your footsteps.
Amen
From Christian Aid’s Lenten Pilgrimage blog – Journey to Jerusalem
Reflect on energy intensive habits and give this Lent to God. Ask for his strength to help you make positive changes.
Father, give me vision to live a life that is better for your creation and your people. Fill me this Lent with the strength to go against our culture’s tide and the resilience to embrace change.
Amen
See my other blog for the actions and my blogging of how I manage trying to do them each day. There will probably be more prayers posted here during the Carbon Fast.
O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray
And to concentrate my thoughts on you:
I cannot do this alone.
In me there is darkness,
But with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not leave me;
I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways,
But you know the way for me…
Restore me to liberty,
And enable me to live now
That I may answer before you and before me.
Lord, whatever this day may bring,
Your name be praised.

Kim has asked for prayer for her son:
Please pray that my son is contacted very very soon regarding his application for Peel Police. Please pray that this final criteria that Peel Police is working on meets their requirments and that when my son is contacted it is fantastic news and he is asked to join their force. God Bless
This prayer isn’t exactly right for the situation, but for all parents with children who are nearly all grown up and taking steps into their adult lives …
Prayer for children leaving home
It is time to let go,
to stand back and watch
as the young leave home
and go out into the world
on their own.
Bless them, O God,
in all their endeavors,
in their successes and failures.
Guard them from all harm and evil
and make them strong to resist temptation.
Lead them in your paths
that they may be the builders of life
and not destroy your creation.
Teach them your ways of justice
that they may care for the well-being of all
and not for their needs alone.
Guide them in their search for truth
that they may praise you in all they do.
Let them trust the love of family
to support them in their time of need,
to care for their hopes and dreams,
and to love them, no matter what comes.
Amen.- Vienna Cobb Anderson

Thank you Lord for teaching us how to make You the center of our marriage. Humble us to grow beyond our ego, pride and past hurts. Help us to establish and grow the love Christ in us to show each other kindness, trust, patience, forgiveness and divine love. Help me Lord to honor the qualities of my mate. Teach me how to pray for my spouse.
Empower me with courage to speak up for anything out of order in our relationship. Soften my tongue and heart where it has become like stone. Strengthen my flesh and self-esteem where it has become weak.
Whenever we lose the gratitude and passion for each other, guide us in ways to relight the candle of passion that can burn out from stress and time. Bless us to not only see, but honor one another. Help us to not only listen, but hear each other. Bless us to not only cherish one another, but nourish each other’s dreams and spiritual gifts.
We surrender our marriage and our personal power struggles to You. Teach us to be less controlling and more collaborative in our decisions and problem solving skills. Quicken our minds so we may know how to please, protect and provide for each other. Bless our union to grow stronger, wiser, peaceful and committed. Bring into our circle of friends, examples of healthy committed marriages. Let our children, family and friends see Christ through our example.
Thank you Lord for covering our home with your grace, mercy and favor. Today is a new day that I choose to love, respect and serve my spouse. Give us both the wisdom, patience, love and faith not to give up on each other.

O Lord, my nighttime fears are very real,
but so, too, is your love for me.
Help me take into my heart your desire for my safety,
and bring upon me a nightly peace
that erases all my anxiety and lets me sleep calmly,
to awaken refreshed
and fearful no more.

God, make me brave for life: oh, braver than this.
Let me straighten after pain, as a tree straightens after the rain,
Shining and lovely again.
God, make me brave for life; much braver than this.
As the blown grass lifts, let me rise
From sorrow with quiet eyes,
Knowing Thy way is wise.
God, make me brave, life brings
Such blinding things.
Help me to keep my sight;
Help me to see aright
That out of dark comes light.

I have received a prayer requiest. Please pray for John, especially today.
I have a prayer request for my best friend, John. His mother passed away last Sept after a long battle with Cancer. Her birthday is this Thursday (July 3.) It’s been a long lonely year for John.. he is an only child, raised by mom, no ties with his father, and not really close with relatives. Any prayer of comfort and peace through the weekend would help a lot. Thank you.
Most loving God,
you know the pain and sorrow of death;
mercifully hear our prayer for those
who mourn the death of their beloved.
The nights are lonely and the days are too long.
Comfort them and bring an end to the days of tears.
Bless them and bring an end to their days of sorrow.
Renew them with the joy of life and bring to an
end their days of mourning.
Let the bond of love which you have for your
people be the foundation of their hope that
love never ends and that precious moments
with our beloved are forever held dear in our hearts.
Amen.

Take my heart, dear Lord, and hold it in the palm of your hand. May it beat with the pulse of you.
Shine your light into the very depth of my heart, and may your light shine through the windows of my soul so that I may be used as a beacon of light to lead others to you!

Look upon us, O Lord,
and let all the darkness of our souls
vanish before the beams of thy brightness.
Fill us with holy love,
and open to us the treasures of thy wisdom.
All our desire is known unto thee,
therefore perfect what thou hast begun,
and what thy Spirit has awakened us to ask in prayer.
We seek thy face,
turn thy face unto us and show us thy glory.
Then shall our longing be satisfied,
and our peace shall be perfect.St. Augustine
Surround me with your light, Jesus, and penetrate the very depths of my being with that light. Let there remain no areas of darkness in me or in my family members, but transform our whole being with the healing light of your love. Open me completely to receive your love, Jesus. Thank you for being our family healer and my personal healer.

Ashley is really sick tonight – things are looking really serious. She had been doing so well and had been at home since just before Christmas, with life getting back to normal, but suddenly got sick and is now back in hospital, on a ventilator
The latest update on Ashley’s blog is titled “Rapidly Declining …”
